FIRST PEEK: Looks Like Mary J. Blige’s Character Will Be The Female Ghost In ‘Power’ Spin-Off + Weirdos Have Been Sending Death Threats To Michael Rainey Jr.

The first look at Mary J. Blige in the upcoming “Power” spin-off is here and it appears she’ll be taking charge as Ghost 2.0. Also, people have been sending “Power” star Michael Rainey Jr. death threats on social media. Find out why inside…

The finale season of “Power” has two episodes left, but the “Power” spin-off is on its way and we’ve got the first look. And fans won’t have to wait long after the series wraps up for the spin-off.

Mary J. Blige is gearing up to flex her acting skills as the star of 50 Cent's upcoming spinoff, "Power Book II: Ghost." And it appears her character Monet, a very successful women in Queens who runs her business “with an iron fist,” will be the female version of Ghost.

It’s unclear how Monet (pictured above with LaToya Tonodeo, who plays Monet’s daughter Diana) will keep her business afloat, but if her character is anything like the original Ghost (played by Omari Hardwick) then viewers can expect some drug business dealings behind-the-scenes.

Apparently, it’s an idea executive producer Courtney A. Kemp had been playing around with for nearly two years, but it didn't start to come into fruition until MJB’s camp reached out to Courtney for Mary to make a “Power” cameo. Hey, she’s a fan of the hit STARZ series like the rest of us.

“’Power’ obviously is a masculine show but has very strong female characters,” Courtney Kemp told Entertainment Weekly. “For Mary’s character, we use all the power and presence of the actress to communicate how this is a woman who is remarkable and unique in her abilities. She’s as smart, savvy, and strategic as Ghost ever was, but her learning doesn’t come from books. We always said Ghost was a bookish kid who read all the time. This woman’s acumen comes from the street.”

The “Power” spin-off will use the same blueprint from the original, but with new characters and new plot twists.

“There are some people from the original show as well as a bunch of new characters,” such as Method Man, who will play an ethically challenged lawyer. “It will definitely have a lot of the same elements that you’re used to from Power in terms of criminality, sex, romance, and the legal system. Every scene is still about power.”

Deadline reported 50 Cent (who played Kanan) posted then deleted a picture of himself on the "Power Book II: Ghost" spin-off set with Michael Rainey Jr. (who plays Tariq St. Patrick) and Season 6 actor Gianni Paolo. It appears Tariq will likely make an appearance or even star in it. We won't know for sure until "Power" officially ends, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Speaking of Tariq….

After an alleged leaked ending to the finale series of Power hit the net, Michael Rainey Jr. has some questions. Apparently, folks have been in his social media DMs, issuing death threats. You can guess why. We won't spoil it. Good news is, we hear several endings were shot, so nothing is for sure!
