Fitness guru Jillian Michaels made comments about Lizzo’s body and folks were not having it. Find out what she said, plus the “Juice” singer’s indirect response inside…
It seems there’s always someone commenting on Lizzo’s body. Can a girl live?
Fitness trainer Jillian Michaels came under fire recently for comments she made about singer Lizzo’s body. She’s being accused of fat-shaming the “Juice” singer during an interview on BuzzFeed’s “AM to DM.” “You cannot glorify obesity,” the 45-year-old responded after being asked about previous comments she made about obesity. “It’s dangerous. It kills people.”
The interviewer then went on to praise artists like Lizzo for “preaching self-acceptance” and celebrating different body types.
“Why are we celebrating her body?” Jillian asked. “Why does it matter? That’s what I’m saying. Like why aren’t we celebrating her music? ‘Cause it isn’t gonna be awesome if she gets diabetes.”
Oh? We guess skinny people don't get diabetes? Also, Jillian - as a self proclaimed health expert - should know that self acceptance and self love AS IS is the first step to a person changing anything they want to change. So are we supposed to hate ourselves until we fit Jillian's definition of what's acceptable to love?
We guess chile...

Fans of the "Good As Hell" singer were NOT here for Jillian's critiques and hopped on social media to react. While Lizzo had tons of support, there were also folks who agreed with Jillian as well. Peep the tweets:
Nick Jonas and Halle Berry both have diabetes. Fat does not equal diabetes.

More people die from complications of anorexia than any other mental illness, but sure, let's ask for Lizzo's bloodwork.

Lizzo spends hours every night singing and playing the flute during intensive dance cardio. Just admit that the only self worth you've found for yourself is in your thinness, Jillian, then go to therapy & do the work to love yourself.

Fat shaming.
Pure and simple.
Because Lizzo is HIGHLY athletic on stage. Multiple times a week.
Not all obese people have Diabetes, and not all thing people are healthy.
Did you talk to Bob Harper on his unhealthy choices before his MI?
Fuck off, Jillian. https://t.co/nKx2qpRWli

Oh wow, how dare a physical trainer make a comment about someone’s health. And she didn’t even say anything offensive, she said we should focus on her music instead of her body. Jeez...

Michaels is Exaclty right. Let’s stop celebrating and normalizing obesity as something great. Do what you want with your life. But don’t tell me I need to celebrate terrible decisions with you.

After being dragged on social media, the former "Biggest Loser" trainer hopped on Twitter to try and clarify her comments. She didn't change her mind though. Basically, she said what she said:
— Jillian Michaels (@JillianMichaels) January 9, 2020
"As I've stated repeatedly, we are all beautiful, worthy, and equally deserving," she wrote. "I also feel strongly that we love ourselves enough to acknowledge there are serious health consequences that come with obesity - heart disease- diabetes, cancer to name a few. I would never wish these for ANYONE and I would hope we prioritize our health because we LOVE ourselves and our bodies."
While Jillian is analyzing Lizzo's body & health, the "Truth Hurts" singer is in Australia touring and taking time to help people who are being affected by the massive fires. Here are flicks of her touching down in Sydney today:
After settling in to her super luxe hotel, she hopped on Instagram with an inspirational message about deserving happiness:
"At the 25 second mark I want you to take 5 deep breaths... in through the nose... out through the mouth.. today’s mantra is: This is my life. I have done nothing wrong. I forgive myself for thinking I was wrong in the first place. I deserve to be happy," she wrote.
And that's that on that!
