Martin Lawrence (above alongside his fianceé Roberta Moradfar) and Will Smith have been heavy on the promo trail for their newly released action thriller, Bad Boys 3.
The “Martin” star recently chopped it up with GQ magazine where he revealed the real reason why he walked away from his epic comedy series.
“Well, how can I say this? It just was time to end,” the comedian/actor told the magazine.
The 54-year-old funnyman was then asked if his decision to end the series, which ran from 1992 to 1997, had anything to do with the sexual harassment lawsuit filed by his former on-screen girlfriend Tisha Campbell, who played Gina Waters, filed against him in 1997. In short, yes.
“Yeah. Because none of that was true. It was all a lot of bullsh*t,” he responded. “Just whoever's side it was, it was bullsh*t,” he continued.
The suit was settled out of court.
”We don't need to talk about something that just didn't happen. So I just decided to walk away from the show. I just decided to end it. People said that I got canceled, but that wasn't the case. I decided to just leave the show,” he explained.
Despite the suit, he said he still had love for Tisha.
“I love Tisha. I've seen her then and now, now and then, always with nothing but love. I have nothing but love for her, and I always have,” he shared.
Yesterday, Tisha Campbell reacted to her former co-star’s comments during an appearance on “The Talk.” She said she was “shocked” by his comments, so she hit him up to find out what’s really good.
“I can’t go into much detail about the past because there was a confidentiality agreement, so the gag order says no. But, what I can say is… I was actually kind of shocked,” she told the daytime talk show hosts. "I hit him [Lawrence] up. He called me within a minute... He was like, ‘Don’t read into what it is, there’s a lot of people that’s trying to bring up the past, and trying to make it news today. But, you know T, we're good. I love you. I love your family.’"
Again, she can’t say too much about the suit, but they have since reconciled since the suit. You’ll recall, Martin & Tisha (along with “Martin” alum Tichina Arnold) reunited and went out to lunch last year, which started reboot rumors. However, it wasn’t about a reboot, it was about a “re-connection,” she said.
”We got to talk about everything. Again, I'm not going to go into details, because I want to respect his privacy and I want to respect mine. But I will say, by the end of it, it was nothing but laughter and healing. And I got a chance to experience that. And I'm so glad that we’re in a good place right now.”

After her appearance, Marty Mar hopped on Instagram to show Tisha more love and she responded:
"Regardless of the past or any misrepresentation of it in the press, I have nothin but love for Tisha then and now," he wrote in the caption of a "Martin" promo pic that featured the both. "We are good and always will be! #teammartymar #yougogirl"
"YOU GO BOY My fam fo life!," Tisha wrote in the comments.
