Ouch!
People have been making jokes about the hard fall, but she really hurt herself. The fall caused some major injuries, including a broken jaw, a sprained ankle and she chipped some of her teeth.
After the clip went viral, Genea Sky got on social media to update everyone she had to have surgery following the fall.
"I broke my jaw and I have to have surgery on it tomorrow [Monday]," she said in a video. "I broke some teeth and I got a sprained an ankle. I got some stitches, but aside from that I'm good. I have no broken limbs, I walked away myself."
Peep the video below:
She also went on Twitter to respond to people who were making light of her fall:
Yes, I fell off the pole.
Yes, I fractured my jaw.
NO, I’m not fucking okay.
And there’s absolutely NOTHING funny about this situation. This is the worst pain I’ve ever felt and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone.— Honey Badger (@Genea_Sky) February 9, 2020

Literally have to get surgery tomorrow. So please, if you don’t have anything nice to say just leave me alone.

She also thanked those who were genuinely concerned and offered up support:
As for everyone else, I appreciate the love and concern. It means a lot. Thank you

Genea - who said she's paying her way through school - also made it clear she wasn’t under the influence:
I wasn’t fucked up. I do the same tricks every night. I simply messed up this time around and that was the result. The end.

Genea’s friend started a GoFundMe account for her since her job “does not cover the expenses of her medical bills.”
”Since she sustained such serious injuries, she will be out of work for an extended period of time. Any donations towards her surgeries would be helpful and appreciated!,” the GoFundMe reads.
People keep asking if I have cash app and Venmo and all that...I only have cash app ($geneapurnell22) and the GoFundMe my best friend made for me. I’m not asking for money but I’m very grateful that so many people want to help me. It truly means the world to me rn. Thank you

I wish I could individually respond to each person but my phone has been flooded all day. So thank you to EVERYONE who has reached out & continues to do so. Your guys’ kind words are so helpful and uplifting. I can’t say “thank you” enough

As of the time of this post, she has raised over $31,000.
After the surgery, Genea offered up an update from her hospital bed. The surgery went well, however, her jaw is currently wired shut.
"My surgery went well. My jaw is currently wired shut so please refrain from calling me as of right now and bare with me on replies because my phone hasn’t stopped blowing up,” she wrote on IG. “Everyone’s love & kind words have not gone unnoticed whatsoever and it means so much to me that all of you have blessed me and uplifted me in so many ways. I am overwhelmed in the best way by all the support."
Genea admitted she was nervous after the video went viral because “people are cruel and this is a very sensitive time for me.” Although there has been some negative comments and posts about her fall, she has been overwhelmed with the amount of love and support she has received.
”I was really nervous as this all started blowing up because people are cruel and this is a very sensitive time for me. But I never imagined so many people would stand behind me in a situation like this and that has outweighed all the negativity by far,” she explained. “I am beyond grateful for you all. I am in a tremendous amount of pain but i am ready for this road to recovery so I can get back to my life. I will continue to update everyone over the course of my recovery but thank you once again for EVERYTHING”
With the outpouring of love and support, people have been creating fake IG pages and GoFundMe accounts to try and profit from her pain. She’s calling them all out and asking people to report the fakes they come across:
Watch out for the scammers y'all!
We're just glad she didn't further injure herself, or worse, and is currently recovering.
