Denny’s Needs To Come Up Off The $4K A Server Says She Received In Tips – Find Out Why The Restaurant Hasn’t Released Her Coins

A Denny's waitress claims the food chain restaurant is holding back a $4,000+ tip she received last month and she wants her coins...NOW. Deets inside...

Denny's better stop playing with this woman's money! Imagine copping a $4,000+ tip and the restaurant not releasing your coins.

Well that happened to a Tennessee waitress at Denny's and she pissed. She's so mad, she has even threatened a lawsuit. Last month, Shikira Edwards was uber hype when her manager informed her that a customer had left her a mega tip for a whopping $4,451.61. Shikira even spoke to media outlets about it when she received the tip.

“It’s just such a blessing to have good people like that that are still here and that God did answer my prayers, because he knows what I go through,” she told FOX13 Memphis last month. “For someone to look at me and bless me in that way, in that way shape or form, there’s no blessing too high or too low for God, and I appreciate her so much.”

It's been a solid three weeks since she did that interview and sis STILL doesn't have her money. The reason? Well, Denny's is giving her the run-around. First, Shikira's manager told her it was HER responsibility to track down the customer who left the generous tip herself to make sure it wasn't an accident.

“And then you’re going to tell me that it’s my fault that I didn’t get the information on a customer when they left and tipped me. I don’t know who tipped me,” she said.

After Shikira spoke to the network about not receiving her funds, the owner of that Denny's - Han Kim - sent an email to the outlet explaining he believes the customer didn't mean to tip the waitress that amount of money. He said the store manager wanted to protect the guest, so they contacted Denny’s headquarters and they decided to cancel the transaction.

A spokesperson for Denny's addressed the matter in a statement, writing:

“Denny’s is working diligently with our Banking/Credit Card Department to locate the guest and verify the large tip amount. The restaurant located at 7065 Winchester Road in Memphis, TN scored a 99% during their latest health inspection on Tuesday, February 18, 2020.”

University of Memphis Law Professor Steve Mulroy told FOX13 that if Denny's doesn't give her the money, she could potentially sue.

“The employer can't arbitrarily sort of change the rule about how you share the tips or who gets the tips because it’s a big check,” he said.

OK. So what's the hold up Denny's? We're sure you got the customer's information by now - it's been three weeks. Was it a mistake or not? If not, then they need to get this woman her money!

Shikira - who no longer works at the Denny's - wants her money by any means necessary.

“I’m definitely taking this to court,” she told Atlanta Black Star. “I want justice to be served not only in what I’ve been through but for the rest of the [Denny’s] employees as well. I just hope that at the end of the day, no matter what, that justice is served,” she continued. “And I just think it’s wrong to be lied to. I pray that whatever is done in the dark should come to light.”

She shared she has worked at the restaurant for the last three years while paying her way through dental school. She speculated why she likely hasn't seen a dime of her hard-earned tip:

“I wouldn’t be surprised if because of what they’re going through already that they need it more than I do,” she said. According to Edwards, the business is short staffed, low on supplies and employees don’t want to be there because of other problems.
