Here’s the latest with Megan Thee Stallion’s battle with 1501 Certified Entertainment honcho Carl Crawford. Deets inside…
After Megan Thee Stallion went on social media to air out her frustrations with her record label, all hell broke loose.
During her IG Live she did a few days ago, the FEVER rapper made claims that her record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, was blocking her from releasing new music after she asked them to renegotiate her contract. She has been waiting to release new tracks from her forthcoming album titled, SUGA, but since there’s drama, she hasn’t been able to do anything.
The “WTF I Want” rapper (real name Megan Pete) then SUED the record label and was granted a temporary restraining order against 1501 and its CEO/former MLB star Carl Crawford by a federal judge in Texas. The judge ordered 1501 Entertainment “to do nothing to prevent the release, distribution, and sale of Pete’s new records,” along with forbidding any interference with her or her career over social media or through her collaborators or associates.
In the lawsuit, the Houston Hottie is looking to void her 360 recording contract with 1501. She claims she has only been paid $15,000 from the label after earning an estimated $7 million for the label via a billion streams and selling over 300,000 individual track downloads. She also claims that after she inked her management deal with Roc Nation last year, Carl and members of his label have “attacked and threatened her on social media.”
After Meg put up that IG Live, Carl did post up a menacing response, writing, “At a time when loyalty is at an all time low it’s nice to be link with @jprincerespect who is steady teaching me how to move in this cutthroat industry," he wrote. "And I know that terrifies some especially the ones who double cross me. #Paybacksabitch #1501 #mobties”
Carl filed a motion demanding a hearing be held TODAY in Harris County, Texas, so a judge can hear the label's side of the story before Meg’s album is set to drop on Friday, March 6th. He claims Megan shouldn’t have been able to take them to court in the first place.

According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, Crawford says Megan's contract stipulates all disputes between her and the label must be handled in arbitration. Coincidentally, this is the very contract Megan complained was one-sided and unfair when she signed it as a naive 20-year-old.
He also claims Megan's guilty of booking several gigs without its approval -- but what really chaps Crawford's britches (it's a Texas case, after all) is her plan to release music on March 6.
In docs, 1501 Certified says she can't drop that music without its approval ... it's part of her contract. Even if she wants out of it, it remains in place for now, and Crawford says he's exercising his contractual right to control distribution of her music.
Crawford's also not buying Meg's claim that "disappointment of her fans" is a basis for getting a restraining order to release the music.
No word yet if that hearing will be granted.
The former MLB star also spoke with Billboard about Thee Stallion’s lawsuit and shady business allegations made against the label. He denies the allegations made against him and the label.
"It's a whole lie," he said. "Nothing is true that she said. Me being greedy and taking money from her, that's crazy. I never tried to take nothing from her. The only thing we ever did was give, give, give."
Carl claims after she signed her management deal with Roc Nation last September, she went ghost and decided not to pay him or the record label any of the money she supposedly owed. He feels like she used shady tactics to avoid paying him for merchandise and live touring proceeds owed to him through the terms of their deal, all so that he would renegotiate her four-album deal contract that she initially signed with 1501.
"She just has so many holes in her story, and it's almost on some delusional type stuff. The bubble of Hollywood and her eight million followers has really clouded her head, because the stuff that she's saying is not true. It's a whole lie."
"Everybody in the industry knows this is what Jay-Z and Roc Nation do: They come in, the find the smallest things wrong with the problem -- because there weren't any problems before she left -- and then she says that I didn't want to negotiate? Ok, tell everybody your definition of negotiating. Your definition is, "OK. I'm going to send Suge Knight's old lawyers to come in, and it's a stick-up...'" Of course, I'm like, "This isn't a negotiation. This is a robbery."
"They want to make it look like I'm greedy? No, they're trying to keep me out of everything. She keeps saying, 'Them n---as over there negotiated my contract.' Them n---as are sitting right next to her. T. Farris is the one. Her mom did the contract. I'm new to the business. I let this guy T. Farris run my whole business, because I knew absolutely nothing about it. Zero. So he wrote your contract up. I didn't do it."
"They want to make a big deal about it. We signed a deal. Honor your contract and let's just keep doing business how we been doing and everything is fine. Nobody is trying to rob you."
