Rep. Maxine Waters took to the House floor tonight while speaking in favor of the Covid_19 relief bill to dedicate it to her dying sister. Her touching words inside.
California Representative Maxine Waters is not just dealing with the trying times of Coronavirus, as well as dealing with a President who is making matters worse, but she's also dealing with personal trauma. During tonight's House Floor vote on the CoVid_19 relief bill, the 81-year-old outspoken lawmaker revealed her sister in St. Louis is dying of the virus.
Sadly, she has to be in D.C. to conduct Congressional business, and people have been advised against non essential travel (even though not everyone is taking heed). It would also be unsafe for those like Rep. Waters who are in an at-risk group to be around anyone who has been diagnosed.
To still recognize her sister, she dedicated the passing of the bill to her. You can watch her speech and her fellow congressman supporting her below:
