A Scarface reboot is in the works, but are you here for it? Check out deets about the upcoming remake and more inside…
When Scarface hit theaters 30+ years ago, it was super controversial. However, the movie turned into a cult classic. No matter a person’s ethnic background or culture, they’ve likely seen the movie, know quotes from the movie or at the very least know what the story is about.
Now, Hollywood is gearing up for a reboot.
The remake just got its director. Filmmaker Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By My Name) will direct the film for Universal Pictures.
The project has been in development for a while, going back to 2011. Famed film director Antoine Fuqua and David Ayer were previously attached as directors. The Scarface film everyone loves today was actually a remake of the 1932 Scarface. In the original, an Italian took over Chicago. In the 1983 film, Cuban gangster Tony Montana (played by Al Pacino) took over the cocaine trade in Miami during the 80s.
According to Deadline, the Scarface remake will be set in Los Angeles. I’ll be produced by Dylan Clark for his Dylan Clark Productions. Scott Stuber will executive produce alongside Marco Marabito. SVP Brian Williams will also executive produce for Dylan Clark Productions. Joel Coen and Ethan Coen wrote the script.
Since the Scarface people know and love today was a remake, do we really need a remake of a remake?
The 1983 film was such a classic. Everyone isn't here for another Scarface:
Imagine having to improve on Al Pacino's performance, I feel for whoever gets it https://t.co/CvMgTDdIaX

I mean even if there is a Scarface reboot how can you get pictures iconic as this and even come close to the iconic line ‘say hello to my little friend’. pic.twitter.com/SXFWIiUA0b

No way anyone can be as good as Al Pacino was in Scarface as Tony Montana...Sorry. Some things should not be remade. pic.twitter.com/aLgpmXaipc

Are you here for a Scarface reboot? And if so, who would you want to see as the lead?
