Mamba Forever! LeBron James, the Lakers, Vanessa Bryant and more celebrated the life of NBA icon Kobe Bryant on #MambaDay (8/24). See the celebrations inside…
It’s hard to believe we lost NBA icon Kobe Bryant at the beginning of 2020. The world literally stopped when news broke that he and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant were killed in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020.
That Mamba Mentality was all in the Orlando Bubble last night when the Los Angeles Lakers went up against the Portland Trail Blazers for Game 4 in their first-round playoff series. August 24th has been declared in honor of his two jersey numbers 8 & 24. Also, Kobe would have turned 42 on 8/23.
LeBron James and the Lakers paid tribute to the franchise icon by wearing “Black Mamba” jerseys that featured a special heart patch with the #2 on it to honor Gianna.

Before Mamba Day, Kobe’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, celebrated her husband’s birthday. He would have been 42 years old on August 23rd. She posted up a super emotional and heartbreaking tribute to her hubby that brought tears to our eyes.
“Happy birthday. I love you and miss you more than I can ever explain,” she started. “I wish you and Gigi were here to celebrate YOU! I wish I could make you your fav food or a birthday cake with my Gigi,” she wrote.
She continued, “I picture your smile and wide big welcoming hugs daily. God I miss you both so much. Our lives feel so empty without you and Gigi. I’ve been completely broken inside. As much as I want to cry, I put a smile on my face to make our daughters days shine a little brighter. I’m not the strong one, they are.”

She also posted a Nike video that honored her husband that was narrated by Kendrick Lamar. She also posted a video tribute from the L.A. Dodgers, The Lakers and the WNBA.
Yesterday, Ciara and Russell Wilson linked up with Vanessa and her kids.
Seeing you and the girls smile makes my heart smile. You’re the toughest mama I know. Seeing you put one foot forward each day is admirable. It ain’t easy, but if I know one thing, Mamba Queen’s capable of it all. Love you V. #MambaDay pic.twitter.com/yxrPuAEg3n

Legends are missed, but never forgotten.
I had the pleasure of calling Kobe Bryant my friend for 20 years. Nobody, and I mean nobody, worked harder and more passionately to be great, day in and day out. As a player, as a coach, as a mentor, as a husband and as a father. pic.twitter.com/F1IxskIDyP
