Before tonight's Primetime Emmys, the 2020 Creative Arts EMMYs went down virtually where several YBF celebs copped an award for the first time. This year, the Creative Arts EMMYs hosted five ceremonies over several nights and last night’s virtual show was the final one with statuettes handed out in 29 categories.

Comedian/actor Eddie Murphy was an early Primetime EMMY winner. After landing five nominations throughout his career, the famed comedian finally nabbed his first ever Primetime EMMY award for hosting Saturday Night Live in the Gust Actor Comedy Series category.

Eddie’s return to SNL after 35 years was epic and it resulted in huge ratings for the network. He brought the homies Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle and Tracey Morgan along (and cast member Kenan Thompson). He also reprised several of his famed SNL characters such as Gumby, Buckwheat, Mr. Robinson, and more.

Peep his acceptance speech below:

“Thank you to everybody at the Emmys,” Eddie said. “Thank you so much for giving me an Emmy. I don’t have an Emmy. This is 40 years since I started Saturday Night Live, this is my first Emmy, so thank you so much. I want to thank Lorne Michaels for putting this whole thing together, and making this happen. And I want to thank, the cast, the writers and the crew at SNL. This was a very, very special thing for me to come back and have the show turn out the way it did. I’m still floating from it. And thank you to everybody for giving me an Emmy.”

After nabbing his first EMMY, Eddie appeared in the Creative Arts Emmy virtual backstage where he talked about why he pumped the breaks on his return to stand-up comedy.

“These are really serious times, no times for joking,” he said, answering a question about the importance of comedic commentary today.

“I don’t know right now if there should be any comedic commentary. We’re still right in the middle of everything,” he explained.

With everything going on right now (Coronavirus, #BlackLivesMatter movement and the upcoming presidential election), he said he’s holding off on making jokes until next year.

“In a year or so, we’ll be need comedic commentary and some laughs, but now we’re right in this,” he added. “As soon as it’s clear to go back out there, that was the plan, that is the plan.”

Fellow comedian Dave Chappelle nabbed a few Creative Arts EMMY awards for his Sticks & Stones Netflix stand-up comedy special and Eddie addressed the way Dave went about hosting it.

“There was very little joking. He was doing stand-up, but it was, like, serious.”

Facts.

As for another first time winner…

It’s been a long time coming. Finally, Kerry Washington is an EMMY winner.

On Tuesday (Sept. 15th), the “Scandal” actress copped a Creative Arts EMMY Award for her work as an executive producer on ABC’s Live In Front Of A Studio Audience: "All In The Family" And "Good Times."

The special won the award for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) after beating out the 73rd Annual Tony Awards, the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards, the Oscars and the Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show starring Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. The special was a tribute to classic ’70s sitcoms “All in the Family” and “Good Times.”

“Thank you for this amazing creative family. It’s such a brilliant team,” Kerry said during the virtual ceremony on Tuesday alongside co-producers Justin Theroux, James Burrows and the legendary Norman Lear.

Later, she hopped on social media to express her excitement:

"Still beaming!!!!,” Kerry captioned a photo of the show’s cast and crew before shouting out her production company. “So proud of @SimpsonStreet and the ENTIRE cast and crew who came together to re-make this magic. #LiveInFrontOfAStudioAudience”

By the way, the esteemed actress was also nominated for Outstanding Variety Special, nominated as an executive producer on American Son and Little Fires Everywhere. American Son was nominated in the Outstanding Television Movie category while Little Fires Everywhere was up for Outstanding Limited Series.

”This Is Us” actor Ron Cephas Jones and his daughter/”#FreeRayshawn” actress Jasmine Cephas Jones made EMMY history as the first father-daughter duo to win EMMY awards in the same year! Sweet. Ron copped the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role on NBC's "This Is Us."

There was a bit of a mix up when his award was announced. The broadcast voiceover announced “The Outsider’s” Jason Bateman as the winner. However, Ron was the actual winner. After the mixup, the Creative Arts Emmy press room announced an incorrect winner was announced, saying, “the right winner and the right slate, but the voiceover was incorrect."

Meanwhile, Jasmine won the award for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for her work on Quibi’s “#FreeRayshawn.”

“As a parent that’s the most fulfilling that I could ever feel at the moment,” Ron said during an interview in the virtual backstage press room. “Winning another Emmy is the icing on the cake, but to see my daughter progress and move into this place where she’s earned an Emmy is beyond words and I tear up every time I think about it to be honest with you. To see my daughter become healthy and happy, that’s a parent’s dream.”

He added, “We always focused on the work ever since she was a little girl, and coming from the theater it’s always been about trying to do good work…when you do what you want to do and you’re happy and you’re healthy that’s the win in itself… When we found out she was nominated, I was expressing to her that’s the win in itself when your work gets acknowledged and the win itself is the icing on the cake that keeps you humble and keeps you hungry.”

Aww! Congrats to the father-daughter duo!
