We’ve been waiting for this memoir to drop for years. And now, it’s here! Find out when Forever President Barack Obama’s memoir “A Promised Land” will drop and what Prez. O says about it inside…
Ever since we learned Forever President Barack Obama was working on his memoir following his eight-year presidency, we have been patiently waiting to turn the pages. Yep, we’re getting the hardback copy.
Now, the time has come for the release and we’re more than excited about it.
Barack Obama’s long-awaited presidential memoir is titled “A Promised Land” and it’s set to hit shelves after the 2020 presidential election: November 17th to be exact.
Prez. O hopped on social media to announce the release date and to share a few details about what’s inside:
There’s no feeling like finishing a book, and I’m proud of this one. In A Promised Land, I try to provide an honest accounting of my presidency, the forces we grapple with as a nation, and how we can heal our divisions and make democracy work for everybody. pic.twitter.com/T1QSZVDvOm

"There’s no feeling like finishing a book, and I’m proud of this one," Obama tweeted. "In A Promised Land, I try to provide an honest accounting of my presidency, the forces we grapple with as a nation, and how we can heal our divisions and make democracy work for everybody."
A tweet from a TRUE president.
Forever First Lady Michelle Obama - who released her memoir "Becoming" in November 2018 - gave her stamp of approval, of course:
There’s no one more reflective, more honest, and more thoughtful than @barackobama. I’ve seen that in so many ways throughout our life together. And after seeing him pour his whole heart into this book, I know you will too. #APromisedLand https://t.co/P7WSZp378a

"There’s no one more reflective, more honest, and more thoughtful than @barackobama," she wrote. "I’ve seen that in so many ways throughout our life together. And after seeing him pour his whole heart into this book, I know you will too. #APromisedLand"
The NY Times reported "A Promised Land" is the “first of two volumes” of Obama’s memoirs and that a second volume will be coming down the pipeline. No word yet on when the second volume will be released. What we do know is that we're ready for this epic new book series. Volume 1 will cover his rise in politics up through his first election and early years in the White House. It ends with the President opening up about the successful operation to kill Osama bin Laden.
Obama fills "A Promised Land" with words that cover 768-pages. It will be issued in 25 languages in markets around the world. The hardback edition will cost $45 while the digital edition will cost $17.99. The audio version will cost $40.00 for a download and $65.00 for a CD. It is being published by Crown, a imprint of Penguin Random House. You'll recall, Penguin Random House paid the Obamas a cool $65 million advance for their memoirs.
FLOUTS' "Becoming" sold over 1 million copies in its first week, sold over 10 million copies over a four month span, and quickly became the best-selling book of 2018. She also went on a epic book tour following the release, where she sat down with celebs and popular journalist to dish on her book. No word on a tour, but here for that as well.
We're keeping our fingers crossed that Obama's memoir gets the documentary treatment - like "Becoming - since the Obamas have a production deal with streaming giant, Netflix.
