Listen, we don't care exactly which city this is taking place in, since folks are questioning the validity of the show already, but the "Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" looks like it's about to be the fall season foolery we need. Deets inside on Bravo's newest "Real Housewives" franchise and the black Pentecostal First Lady who married her grandmother's widow.
Utah is known for being the epicenter of American Mormonism. So, it's no surprise that religion is main backdrop of the newest "Real Housewives" franchise. Despite some folks already accusing Bravo of staging the show with women who are actually living in luxurious Park City, it looks like it's going to be worth the watch regardless.
According to the press release, it's about to go from hordes of cold hard cash and hot fashions to swingers accusations, salacious marital problems and more REAL quick. Here's an excerpt:
Bravo expands the hit franchise and heads to the slopes with the new series “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” launching with a supersized premiere on Wednesday, November 11 from 10:00 – 11:15 pm ET/PT. The series delves into the undiscovered world of Salt Lake City within an exclusive social circle made up of six successful women who’ve created their own paradise filled with luxury homes, shopping sprees and multi-million-dollar businesses. The series follows the elite and unconventional lives of Lisa Barlow, Mary Cosby, Heather Gay, Meredith Marks, Whitney Rose and Jen Shah, as they navigate a society fueled by religion, beauty, wealth and perfection.
The Mormon church is undeniably engrained in the culture of Salt Lake City, but these women represent a spectrum of religious beliefs ranging from Mormon, Islamic, Jewish and Pentecostal. Here perfection is not an aspiration, it’s a mandate. With a deep-rooted history, these women share a special bond, but when circles are this tight it’s only a matter of time before beliefs and personalities collide. Whether hitting the slopes, attending parties at Sundance or hosting the city’s elite, these housewives hold themselves and each other to an extremely high standard and never hold back when things go sideways, but lord knows they are always there for each other when they need it most.
Here's the first sneak peek and, it's a lot:
It's First Lady Mary for us, though. She's one of two castmates of color, and she's got an interesting familial past. She inherited her family's Pentecostal church empire, but there was a caveat. She had to marry her late grandmother's second husband, Robert Cosby Sr., in order for her inheritance to come into fruition. So, here we are, 20 years and one teenaged son later.
She's a self proclaimed fashionista who loves the good life because, what First Lady doesn't, really?
Get into her designer fashions (those tithes are stacking up we guess...), her house and her family (well, she hasn't confirmed if this is her husband in the first pic or not, but folks are surely asking):
