Dan Gabsy’s white girlfriend left him in the dust after his wife, lifestyle guru and restaurateur B. Smith, passed away. Here’s what he said happened….
Welp. It’s over!
Dan Gasby – the husband of famed model/restaurant owner B. Smith – is speaking out about his controversial relationship with his white girlfriend, Alex Lerner, while he was still married.
In 2013, the former Wilhelmina model - the first African-American model to grace the cover of women’s magazine Mademoiselle - was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. Since then, her husband of 26 years, Dan Gasby, has been caring for her. Sadly, B. Smith passed away this past February.

You’ll recall, Dan and his girlfriend made headlines after flaunting their relationship online. Then, the couple revealed they were supposedly moving in together so Alex could help Dan take care of lifestyle guru B. Smith, who had advanced Alzheimer’s.
“If This is Us and Modern Family came together, it would be us,” Gasby told The Post last year.
Now, he's singing a different tune. Dan claims Alex never moved in with him and that she only spent a lot of time at B. Smith’s home to help with the weight of taking care of the cultural icon. What about that the modern family he was so happy to telling anyone who was listening? Not only that, they had a whole radio show centered around relationships and everything. Needless to say, that's dunzo.
"No. She never lived there," he told 'Successful Philanthorphy' host Jean Shafiroff in an interview. "That was an angry woman—there was a room where she could stay and put stuff if she wanted to put stuff. But the press and because of the racial situation, the press and certain people had a field day with that. My wife dated white men, Asian men. I dated white, Black, whatever. Some people are not comfortable with that. But Alex Learner never lived at my house. She was there on weekends, twice a month. And I’d go into town and stay at her place on occasion."
Oh. Since Alex left Dan in the dust, he has since deleted all photos of her from his Facebook. Hmph. He certainly felt the need to voluntarily flaunt - constantly - his new girlfriend to the public via social media. Now, she's gone because they're dunzo.
"No, she took off and you know, whatever. I wish her well. Life has a way of—whatever you deserve you’ll ultimately get and that’s fine," he said.
He claims Alex was very kind to B (although a friend of B. Smith's said otherwise.
