A memorial to honor the legacy of rapper DMX is set to go down next week at Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center. Only family and friends can attend, but it will be live streamed. More deets inside….

Family and friends of DMX will gather next week to honor a rap legend.

A memorial service for late rapper DMX is set for Saturday, April 24th at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, according to his former manager Steve Rifkind. With COVID-19 protocols there will be limited capacity. X hit the Barclay's Center stage in June 2019 in what would be one of his final big shows during the Masters of Ceremony event.

The Barclay’s Center can hold up to 19,000 fans for concerts, although it’s unclear how many people will be allowed in the New York arena. Attendance is capped at 10 percent capacity. According to a source close to the situation, Barclay's is maxed at 10% capacity currently and a decision was made that the service will not be open to the public.

Although the service will not be open to the public, it will be livestreamed.

On Sunday, April 25th, a more intimate church service for X’s immediate family and inner circle will take place.

DMX – born Earl Simmonsdied at the age of 50 on April 9th at White Plains Hospital following a reported heart attack that was prompted from a drug overdose, although the heart attack information hasn’t been confirmed.

Longtime collaborator Swizz Beatz has been in tune with X after his passing:

X is featured on Swizz and French Montana's new song "Been to War," which appear on Season 2 of Epix's "Godfather of Harlem."
