On very sad news, former Bad Boy rapper Black Rob has passed away at the age of 51. Hip Hop mourns the death of the storytelling emcee inside…

It’s been a rough week for Hip Hop as two giants passed away recently.

Following the death of DMX, news of the death of former Bad Boy rapper Black Rob was reported.

Yesterday, friends of Black Rob – including DJ Self, Mario Winans and Mark Curry – got on social media to announce the East Harlem native passed away in an Atlanta hospital. He was 51. Black Rob’s death comes a week after he was released from the hospital from suffering seizures. It’s reported he battled with kidney failure.

“I don’t know where to begin this, but I thank everybody for the donations,” said Mark Curry—rapper and collaborator of Rob and Diddy’s. “Rob passed away about an hour ago.” Mark also reached out to ask Rob’s kids to get in touch with him. Peep the clip above.

”Lord knows i tried to get help ...... I’m sad to say RIP to Black Rob ..... Passed away in the hospital in Atlanta,” DJ Self wrote.

”This hit my heart....... we will NEVER forget you brother! RIP BLACK ROB!,” Mario Winans wrote.

Mark Curry confirmed Rob was on dialysis earlier this week:

Black Rob was suffering through major health problems and was having problems paying his medical bills, so a GoFundMe account was created to help Rob “find a home, pay for medical help & stability during these trying times,” according to the description. Lord.

Before his death, Rob got on social media to talk about his condition:

“Oh man, I’ve been dealing with this for five years. Four strokes … I don’t know what to tell you man. Sh*t is crazy. This sh*t is hard,” Rob said. “I don’t got no house to live in—except maybe an apartment. Me and my man be trying to get together. I’m telling you man, this sh*t is strange. It’s hard, you know what I’m saying?”

Sad.

After he was released from the hospital last week, he thanked everyone for their prayers and support:

Sadly, Rob didn’t reach his GoFundMe goal before passing:

Folks have been coming after Diddy over Rob’s GoFundMe account not reaching its goal:

Hip Hop took to social media to mourn another fallen rapper:

Black Rob was born in Buffalo, NY and grew up in East Harlem. He first made a slash on the music scene when he performed with his first rap group, the Schizophrenics, under the stage name “Bacardi Rob.” In 1996, Rob signed with the Bad Boy label and appeared on 112’s “Come See Me” remix. He’s most famous for his 2000 hit single “Whoa!” from his debut album Life Story released via Bad Boy and Arista. The song later peaked at No. 43 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Black Rob leaves behind four children, named Kayli, Rianna, Diamond, and Million.

Sending our condolences to Black Rob’s family, friends and fans!
