”The Real” co-host Jeannie Mai explains why none of her daytime TV co-hosts were NOT in attendance at her and rapper Jeezy’s wedding ceremony.
In March, Jeezy and Jeannie said “I Do” in an intimate wedding ceremony with their closest friends/family due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Once the wedding pictures and videos hit the Internet, fans questioned why Jeannie’s co-hosts weren’t there on her big day.
In a video for YouTube channel, Jeannie dished she and Jeezy only invited people that knew them both. Due to the pandemic, they had to make sacrifices with the guest list.
“So we had a very COVID-safe wedding in our home,” Mrs. Jenkins explained. “Which means, I mean…literally just a couple…there were two tables in our living room of our closest, closest family and friends. People I grew up with. People that had to know me and [Jeezy]. “Those were the two rules.”
Jeannie and Jeezy decided they would drill the list down to people who knew them BOTH and that’s why he co-hosts weren’t in the mix.
“J made my list, and I made his list. And we were very firm on because of COVID; you’re not supposed to be throwing events right now. You’re not supposed to be putting anybody in risk. So, with our family, we said ‘we are only going to invite our close family and people who know us both,” said Jeannie.
While the ladies didn’t get an invite, she did say she called them and shared she wished she could have been there.
“So, no. I didn’t invite the ladies. But, I did call them all ahead of time to let them know that we were doing this. They were actually the first to know that we were having a secret ceremony, and they kept their secret,” Mai Jenkins said, adding that she and Jeezy plan on having another ceremony when COVID-restrictions are looser.
“So, when we have the wedding later on. Hopefully, things will change then because COVID now, anything can happen,” she said.
Jeannie and Jeezy hinted at a relationship in January 2019 when they were all boo’d up at her 40th birthday bash. Last April, Jeezy popped the question and now they’re married!
