An Alabama judge has been dismissed for name calling. Apparently, she called her colleagues an “Uncle Tom,” one a “fat b****,” and another a “heifer.” More inside…
You have to be careful what you say about folks. It could cost you your job!
An Alabama judge is learning that the hard way.
Jefferson County Judge Nakita Blocton, who is black, has been removed from the bench after being accused of “making inappropriate comments – for example, calling one judge ‘Uncle Tom" and another judge a ‘fat b****,’" and calling an employee a "heifer.”

Obviously, a judge shouldn’t be using that type of language in reference to her colleagues, so, she has been dismissed.
A nine-judge panel found Nakita had a history of “inappropriate comments” and a “pattern of abuse” in the findings of a commission that filed a complaint against the judge for various ethics violations. It’s reported the abuse also included “excessive, unproductive, and unnecessary nights and weekends” she forced her employees to work, according to the panel’s December 10th judgement, which you can read here.
She’s also being accused of attempting a “coverup” once she was under investigation by the state Judicial Inquiry Commission. According to reports, she ordered “employees to allow her to see their private cellphones so that information that might be relevant to the Commission’s investigation could be deleted,” according to the judgment.
Then it goes from bad to worse! She has also been accused of using fake social media accounts to contact parties in cases in an effort to sway the outcome of the case.
The NY Post reports:
Blocton, who was a circuit judge in the Birmingham court’s domestic relations division, also used fake Facebook accounts “to communicate with litigants in a pending domestic-relations case in an effort to affect the outcome of the case,” according to the judgment.
She threatened one party in a divorce case and provided advice to another through the fake accounts, according to the complaint.
“False Prophet How Much Is Your White Judge Paying You,” she wrote to the disfavored party. “THE DEVIL IS WATCHING YOU.”
She used fake accounts to “friend” divorce lawyers and even leak information on other judges, according to the complaint.
Her attorney, Emory Anthony, told Above the Law: “We were trying to keep her on the bench, and we were disappointed they removed her from the bench.”
Sheesh!
Apparently, this isn't the first time she has come under fire. In May 2021, she was accused of forcing staff to take diet pills, and abusing prescription drugs herself. She was temporarily removed from the bench (with pay) after she was charged in a May 14 complaint, AL.com reports. She voluntarily took leave from the bench in February.
AL.com reports:
The allegations say the judge – or someone on her behalf - used Facebook aliases to communicate with, and threaten, people who had cases before her. She is alleged to have made members of her staff work extraordinarily long hours and take Phentermine – a diet pill – to “pep” them up after having worked late the night before.
Now, her cases are being reviewed.
The Alabama Court of the Judiciary removed Nakita Blocton from the bench and ordered her to pay the costs of their proceeding.
