Jay-Z is talking his ish, respectfully. He hopped in a Twitter Space with Alicia Keys to let everyone know there isn’t an artist that can compete with him in VERZUZ. Hov also addressed the Beyoncé vs. Michael Jackson comparisons.
Get it all inside…
Jay-Z chatting it up on social media? Yep.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer popped up for a surprise appearance during a Twitter Spaces chat with Alicia Keys. She’s promoting her new album, KEYS.
Before the chat, Alicia told “The Morning Hustle” radio show she would like to see Jay-Z battle it out against Nas in a VERZUZ Battle, which was co-created by her husband, Swizz Beatz with producer Timbaland.
”I just feel like it would be pretty legendary for it to be Jay & Nas. Just for the energy. They’re both legendary,” she said in the clip above.
During the Twitter Spaces chat last night, the Hip Hop mogul was asked who would be a worthy competitor in a potential VERZUZ and he let it be known - there’s no competition. Like, the only person who is on his level is…himself.
”Can’t nobody stand on the stage with me,” he said. “I ain’t gonna lie, no disrespect. Everyone’s amazing in what they’ve done. No one can stand on stage with me,” he continued.
“There’s not a chance in hell that anyone can stand on that stage with me .. for… I don’t know how long it is, two hours. You gotta stand in front of the ‘Grammy Family (Freestyle)’ live. No one’s ever even seen me perform that and you gotta stand in front of that. That ain’t gonna never happen, man," he said.

Oop. You heard the man!
Rapper Lil Jon caught wind of Hov’s remarks and responded (in Hollywood Unlocked’s IG comments), saying rapper Busta Rhymes would “smoke” Jay-Z in a VERZUZ battle. Check it:
Hmm…do you agree or disagree?
The Rap King also praised his wife Beyoncé during a conversation about comparisons between his wife and music icon, Michael Jackson. He pointed out how Bey’s 2018 Coachella performance was legendary and a historic moment for the culture.
“Bey’s gonna be mad at me for saying this, but Michael Jackson ain’t never have Coachella,” the 52-year-old said. He’s amazing and he’s done amazing things, but she’s an evolution of him because she watched him when she was nine. She watched what he did and she improved upon the concept. And our kids are watching us and will improve upon the concept.”
“Find me a concert that’s as culturally relevant and technically thrilling as Coachella,” said Hov.
