Earlier this month, Netflix released Aaron Hernandez's three-part docu-series “Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez” and it sent shockwaves through social media.

The three-part documentary pieced together the former New England Patriots player's life and events that led up to him committing suicide in April 2017 after he was acquitted for a double murder. He was already serving a life sentence after he was found guily for the murder of his friend/semi-pro player Oldin Lloyd. Viewers were given a sneak peek into his life through interviews with people who were closest to the tight end, including friends and former teammates.

For some viewers, they felt the docu-series focused heavily on Aaron’s struggles with his sexuality. His high school teammates/childhood friend Dennis SanSoucie, who played football with him at Bristol Central High School in Connecticut, alleged in the documentary that they participated in a sexual relationship, but kept it lowkey.

Now, his fiancée Shayanna Jenkins – who stood by his side until the end – is speaking out for the first time since the documentary aired. She and Aaron have an 8-year-old daughter, Avielle Janelle Hernandez, who was 5-years-old when her father took his life.

In an interview with “Good Morning America,” Shayanna said she was unaware that the late Patriots tight end was bisexual or gay or even battling with his sexuality. “Although I have a child with Aaron, I still can’t tell you how he was feeling inside,” she said in the interview. “If he did feel that way or if he felt that urge, I wish I was told.”

She said she wouldn’t have "loved him any differently" if he was bisexual or gay, and she wishes she was able to tell him that. Aaron’s attorney, Jose Baez, was also interviewed and talked about what upset him about the documentary.

Shayanna gave birth to a second daughter with an amateur boxer/bar owner named Dino Guilmette in 2018.  It's unclear if they are still together.
