Hey ‘Watchmen’ Fans, Season 2 Is Reportedly A No-Go – Or Is It?

If you were looking forward to a 2nd season of the superhero series “Watchmen,” you’re not going to like this news. Reportedly, there’s no Season 2, however, it’s still not set in stone completely. Find out what we mean inside…

“Watchmen” fans aren’t not feeling this news.

The drama superhero series – led by Regina King – will not be returning to HBO for a 2nd season. The show quickly became a fan favorite for its politically relevant content about race and the criminal justice system. But it seems, the story the creator wanted to tell has been told, and he’s done with it.

After the finale episode aired last month, creator Damon Lindelof (above) is now speaking out about what’s next. He told USA Today he’s not interested in another season of the drama series because he told the story he wanted to tell.

However, he has given his “blessing to HBO” should the network want to pursue a new installment with another writer-producer. So, if HBO does decide they want to bring it back, they could, however, it likely won’t be the “Watchmen” you’re used to. It could come back better…or worse.

"It would be hard to imagine doing it without Damon involved in some way,” said HBO programming chief Casey Bloys.

Regina played detective Angela Abar aka Sister Night. During the day she was busy with detective work, at night she was chasing down bad guys as Sister Night. The role earned her the Best Actress in a Drama Series Award during the 2020 Critics’ Choice Awards last week.

Since Regina is on her directing steez lately, we wouldn't be mad if they brought it back and let her direct it - with a bomb writer, of course.
