Chadwick Boseman will forever be our king.
Marvel Studios is going forward with the Black Panther franchise. And one thing is for certain: there will NOT be another Black Panther. The studio announced Chadwick’s King T’Challa character will NOT be recast.
Kevin Feige – Marvel Studios’ chief – told a Disney presentation for investors that Chadwick’s role as the leader of Wakanda will not be replaced. Chadwick’s legacy by continuing to "explore the world of Wakanda and all of the rich and varied characters introduced in the first film." There have been rumors that the sequel will follow Letitia Wright’s character – Shuri – who will take over Wakanda following the death of her brother T’Challa. We shall see.
No other details about the sequel were shared, but Black Panther 2 is due to hit theaters in July 2022.
The world was stunned with news that Chadwick passed away in August at the age of 43 after a four-year battle with colon cancer. He kept his diagnosis a secret, so the world was shocked with news that he had passed away.
No doubt this is the best decision for the Marvel team. Chadwick’s talent is unmatched and there isn’t anyone who could replace him.
Ryan Coogler is on board to write and direct the sequel, so fans can rest assure it’ll be another blockbuster hit like the first.
Black Panther shattered the box office with historic numbers. It quickly became the No. 3 title of all time in the U.S.
Watching Black Panther 2 will definitely be bittersweet.
