Oh? Season 2 Of Netflix’s ‘Cheer’ Will Address Jerry Harris’ Child Porn Arrest

Season 2 of Netflix’s hit series “Cheer” is on the way.

The new season will address the 2020 arrest of breakout star Jerry Harris after he was hit with sexual misconduct charges that included child pornography. Peep the trailer inside…

A new season of a popular Netflix series is set to hit the streaming platform…seemingly out of left field.

”Cheer” is surprisingly back for Season 2 after a scandalous first season where breakout star Jerry Harris was hit with sexual misconduct allegations. No need to wonder what happened because the new season will address the allegations.

In September 2020, Jerry was arrested on child pornography charges. He was accused of soliciting sexually explicit photos and sex from minors.

He went before a judge last December and pleaded not guilty on seven sexual misconduct charges, including four counts of sexual exploitation of children, one count of receiving of child pornography, one count of traveling with the intent to engage in illicit sexual contact with a minor, and one count of enticement.

According to Netflix, Season 2 will address Jerry’s arrest and its impact on the cheerleading team. Not only that, the team had to tackle cheering during the coronavirus pandemic.

”It's definitely the hardest season I've ever had,” said coach Monica Aldama.

Fighting back tears, she said, "I can't even, like, process it right now,” in reference to Jerry’s arrest.

“Everyone just felt lost,” a teammate said about the allegations made against Jerry.

“The new episodes also tackle extremely difficult moments,” director and executive producer Greg Whiteley said in a statement in a Netflix press release.

Season 2 will center around “the impact of COVID-19 and criminal charges against one of Navarro’s former team members. It was inspiring, heartbreaking, sometimes frustrating, and ultimately moving to be a part of their lives,” Whiteley said.

Below is his full statement (via press release):

“I am a huge believer in the power of stories and telling them honestly. I believe the story is going to ultimately be the best version of itself when you are honoring what is true, and you're not running from it. This season covers events as they unfolded, beginning in January 2020 through April 2021, following Navarro College and their rival Trinity Valley Community College on their journeys to the national championship.

The new episodes also tackle extremely difficult moments, including the impact of COVID-19 and criminal charges against one of Navarro’s former team members. It was inspiring, heartbreaking, sometimes frustrating, and ultimately moving to be a part of their lives. Flying home from our last day of shooting in Daytona, I thought, ‘I cannot believe we saw what we just saw, we experienced what we just experienced.’ If we do our job right, we're able to take the audience on that same ride.”

Two 14-year-old brothers - Charlie and Sam - made sexual misconduct claims against the “Cheer” star so the FBI got involved, which resulted in Jerry being arrested for soliciting explicit photos and sex from minors.

Entertainment Tonight has more details about the case:

If 22-year-old Harris is convicted, each of the sexual exploitation charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years, while the enticement charge carries a minimum of 10 years. Last September, a spokesperson for Harris told ET, "We categorically dispute the claims made against Jerry Harris, which are alleged to have occurred when he was a teenager. We are confident that when the investigation is completed the true facts will be revealed."

According to court documents obtained by ET last October, Harris allegedly sent and requested inappropriate photos from multiple minors for over two years. Prosecutors alleged that he also sexually assaulted a 15-year-old boy at a public cheer event after following him into a bathroom. According to the documents, Harris also allegedly offered minors substantial sums of money to perform sexually explicit conduct, and admitted to making many attempts to meet minors that he met online in person.

Season 2 of “Cheer” starts streaming on January 12, 2022 on Netflix. Will you be tuning in?
