NBA player Ben Simmons is about to be a husband! According to a report, the Philadelphia 76er popped the question to British TV host Maya Jama. Deets on the proposal inside…
Ben Simmons is about heading down the aisle!
During the holiday season, the 25-year-old Philadelphia 76er reportedly popped the question to Maya Jama, a 27-year-old British TV host. And, she said yes!
An engagement is definitely happier news than his ongoing strenuous relationship with the 76ers, who refuse to cut him despite Ben basically making it known he wants out. Ben hasn't played with the team this season, and has been fined each game for not doing so. By the way, he has a $177M contract.
The Sun reports Ben and Maya secretly got engaged over Christmas. A source told the publication the couple “decided to keep the news low-key and tell only those closest to them.”
“Ben adores Maya and has fallen head over heels for her,” the source spilled. “He picked up the ring on Jewelers’ Row in the diamond district of Philadelphia the day before he proposed,” the insider also said. “He chose the ring himself and felt he knew exactly what she would want. Maya said yes and they’re both thrilled.”
Jama is said to have spent Christmas with the 76ers star at his $6.9 million mansion in New Jersey that he recently put on the market.
Their whirlwind romance started in May 2021. A few months later, the new couple was spotted kissing in the stands at Wimbledon over the summer. Clearly, Ben sees a future with her because he put a ring on it just 7 months later.
“News is going to get out eventually, but they’re keen to keep it under wraps until the new year. Ben fell for Maya almost immediately and was absolutely taken by her sheer beauty,” the source continued. “He tells friends he loves the fact that she has her own career and he’s smitten by her British accent.”
The soon-to-be bride is a presenter of the BBC’s “Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star,” and also hosts Simon Cowell’s “Walk the Line” music competition reality show.
We can’t help but notice how much she resembles his ex-girlfriend singer Tinashe.
Ben & Tinashe started dating in early 2018, but he allegedly dumped her for reality star/model Kendall Jenner in May 2018. The NBA star and the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star dated for about a year and broke up in 2019. In 2020, Ben and Tinashe supposedly got back together - lowkey - after rumors about Kendall hooking up with fellow NBA star fellow NBA star Devin Booker (who she's currently dating). Not long after reuniting, they called it quits again.
New year, still that bitch

Guess he found "the one." Maybe he'll be able to say that about a new team soon as well.
Congrats to the couple!
